The Duke and I by Julia Quinn

The Duke and I by Julia Quinn. The first book in the Bridgerton Series. It’s a light fiction, romantic novel, just great for this time of year. I like her writing style and the book was gripping from the beginning.

The book tells the story of Simon Basset and Daphne Bridgerton, a love story that starts as a sham, but gets real as they spend more and more time together. It’s exactly what anyone would expect from a romantic book like this one, it’s predictable, but still very much enjoyable. It will not disappoint.

About the author: Julia Quinn’s story is a bit different. Her writing career started during her senior year at Harvard College. While she was deciding what to do next in her career, eating ice cream and reading a novel, she thought she could write a novel too.
After two yeas, as she was deciding between Yale School of Medicine and Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons, her agent told her that her first two books were the subject of a bidding war between two publishing houses. She put the medical school on hold and wrote another one. The following year she did the same again. Finally she went to medical school, just to realize a few months later that it wasn’t for her. She withdrew and never looked back.
