When He Was Wicked by Julia Quinn

When He Was Wicked by Julia Quinn must be my favourite book of the Bridgerton series. It is the story of Francesca, a young widow, and Michael, the cousin of her first husband. Their story is beautiful, they grow and change, they are struggling with their feelings because they were sort of related through her husband, a man both of them loved very much.

Beside this, he has malaria and, at the end, Julia talks about this disease. I don’t know much about malaria and it was really interesting to read about it in a romantic novel. It does make the book a bit different.

About the author: Julia Quinn’s story is a bit different. Her writing career started during her senior year at Harvard College. While she was deciding what to do next in her career, eating ice cream and reading a novel, she thought she could write a novel too.
After two yeas, as she was deciding between Yale School of Medicine and Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons, her agent told her that her first two books were the subject of a bidding war between two publishing houses. She put the medical school on hold and wrote another one. The following year she did the same again. Finally she went to medical school, just to realize a few months later that it wasn’t for her. She withdrew and never looked back.
