30-Second Anatomy by Gabrielle Finn
30-Second Anatomy by Gabrielle Finn is another book in the 30-Second series I’ve enjoyed this year. It made me remember some of the things I learned while in high-school, and it also showed me how much I forgot from high-school at the same time.
The book shows how the body operates, using detailed and very helpful illustrations. Each topic is shown on two pages with explanations of about 300 words. There are a few biographies of medical pioneers, with timelines, and, of course, glossaries.
It is a good book, easy to follow, and interesting. It has 7 chapters: the skeletal system; the muscular system; the cardiovascular and respiratory system; the digestive system; the sensory and speech organs; the endocrine and nervous system; the reproductive system. Each chapter has its part of biography, including the one on William Hunter. He and his brother, John, founded the Hunterian Museum in London, a museum I visited back in 2015.
