The Knight’s Broken Promise by Nicole Locke

The Knight’s Broken Promise by Nicole Locke is the first book from a series of 8 novels. I read recently a book by her and I like her style, so I borrowed three of the books in the series. I just loved this book, both Gaira and Robert are so likeable and they evolve during the story.

What I like is that, as the events happens in late 13th century Scotland, they fight, he kills someone, they hunt, are concerned with recovery after an injury. All these details makes the story credible, as gives the impression of being historically accurate. I like this a lot in her books.

As for the story, Gaira is faced with some pretty horrific events, her sister’s death in a gruesome way. Robert has a dark secret. He is in fact the well known Black Robert, one of the most feared men of King Edward’s.

About the author: Nicole discovered her first romance novel in a closet, where her grandmother, the godmother in the romance black market, was hiding hundreds. Knowing her grandmother wouldn’t approve, Nicole hid in the closet to read them. It was only a matter of time before she was found out and given an offer she couldn’t refuse: enjoy them, but out in the living room please. Oh, and if she could go to the store and get a few more…. A few more? Nicole got two jobs.
She stopped reading romances at university, but she discovered them again when, at work, where another black market book swap occurred. Instead of swapping for another forgettable book, Nicole chose a romance (which she still reads). Now she writes romances too.
