Her Enemy Highlander by Nicole Locke
Her Enemy Highlander by Nicole Locke is the second book in the Lovers and Legends Series. This is related in a small way to the first book, but it can be read as a stand-alone novel without any issues. The events take place a few months after the ones in the first book, so in late 13th century Scotland.
Locke, in this book, tells the story of Mairead Buchanan and Caird Colquhoun, Gaira’s brother, (Gaira is the heroine in the first book of the series). Their encounter is strange, but hilarious. It makes for a fun read. The story continues with a kidnapping and some dangerous situations. On top of that they are part of enemy clans.
I liked Caird more than Mairead and this is why I gave only 4.5 out of 5 stars to this book. Regardless, I did enjoy the book overall and I’m glad I read it.

About the author: Nicole discovered her first romance novel in a closet, where her grandmother, the godmother in the romance black market, was hiding hundreds. Knowing her grandmother wouldn’t approve, Nicole hid in the closet to read them. It was only a matter of time before she was found out and given an offer she couldn’t refuse: enjoy them, but out in the living room please. Oh, and if she could go to the store and get a few more…. A few more? Nicole got two jobs.
She stopped reading romances at university, but she discovered them again when, at work, where another black market book swap occurred. Instead of swapping for another forgettable book, Nicole chose a romance (which she still reads). Now she writes romances too.
