Shopaholic Ties the Knot by Sophie Kinsella

Shopaholic Ties the Knot by Sophie Kinsella is the third book in the Shopaholic Series. I’ve already blogged about Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Abroad, the first two in the series. While the other two got a 4 stars, this one is 4.5 stars.

In this book, as the name suggests, Becky Bloomwood gets married. I was expecting to be annoyed by this book. I’ve started reading it last month, then I stopped and a few days ago I’ve continued reading. I finished it by the following morning. I enjoyed it a lot, much more than I’ve anticipated.

The marriage proposal is very sweet. Then, immediately, her mother and her future mother-in-law both start to prepare a wedding. Meanwhile Becky behaves like she usually does, spending a lot of money on things she doesn’t actually need. The story is dotted with letters, as all the shopaholic books are, this time includes two offers. One from divorce lawyers and for adjoining cemetery plots when she got engaged. Those were so funny, I even showed them to my husband for a laugh.

Becky’s mother organizes a small wedding in their garden with friends doing most things, like catering, band, makeup. She even has her old wedding dress for Becky to wear. At the same time and on the same day, Luke’s mother organizes a splendid wedding at the Plaza in New York. Hundreds of people were invited, all was paid for by Luke’s mother. The wedding planner she hired flew in trees from Europe, to create the Sleeping Beauty magical forest Becky wants.

Now there is only one problem: two weddings, both amazing in their own way and very different. Which one to choose? This is the plot of the book. I’m not going to reveal the ending because it’s lovely to read it and see what she does in the end.
