Changeling by Philippa Gregory

Changeling by Philippa Gregory. The first book in the Order of Darkness series: Changeling, Stormbringer, Fools’ Gold, and Dark Tracks. It’s a young adult book and I was asking myself if I should mark it with 5 stars or not. In the end, I did awarded 5 stars because it is a really nice young adult book, despite being a bit silly for me. Anyway, I’m now reading the second book in the series and it looks like it is a very nice novel too.

Changeling by Philippa Gregory

There are five main characters in this book: Luca, Brother Peter, Freize, Isolde, and Ishraq. My favourites are Freize, Luca’s servant, and Ishraq, Isolde’s Muslim servant. The story takes place in 1453, an year after the fall of the Constantinople. After the capture of he city by Sultan Mehmed, The Order of the Dragon, a secret order, recruited Luca as an inquirer. He, along with Brother Peter and Freize, had to go and inquire about strange phenomena that mean is the end of times.

I will not go into details about that, not to spoil the fun. But, I like that Philippa keeps the story in the realms of historical fiction and doesn’t go into fantasy. I hope this will be the case in the next books as well.

Details about the picture: The feathers are cruelty free. Sometimes birds that are coming in my garden to have their breakfast, lunch, and dinner shed some feathers. I collect them, to use as props for my pictures. The black one is from a magpie, the others from pigeons.
My rating: 5/5 Stars.
