Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? by Agatha Christie
Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? by Agatha Christie is a murder mystery solved by two amateur sleuths, Bobby and Frankie. Bobby discovers a dying man. His last words were: ‘Why didn’t they ask Evans?’ Bobby starts investigating to see who killed this man. Bobby is the fourth son of the Vicar of Marchbolt. His sleuth partner is Lady Frances “Frankie” Derwent, an Earl’s daughter.
The book is good, but sometimes I just lost focus. It might be the book or it might be that I was thinking of something else unrelated and it might have been hard for me to concentrate on this particular novel at this particular time. Overall I liked the book and I was most intrigued by who Evans was. I would recommend it, so please don’t be put off my low rating.
I don’t want to go into too much detail because it is a murder mystery, so this is only a short review.

About the author: Agatha Mary Clarissa Miller was born in Torquay, Devon, as the youngest of three. Before marrying and starting a family in London, she had served in a Devon hospital during the First World War, tending to troops coming back from the trenches. During the First World War, she worked at a hospital as a nurse; later working at a hospital pharmacy, a job that influenced her work, as many of the murders in her books are carried out with poison. During the Second World War, she worked as a pharmacy assistant at University College Hospital, London, acquiring a good knowledge of poisons which feature in many of her novels.
Her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, came out in 1920. During her first marriage, Agatha published six novels, a collection of short stories, and a number of short stories in magazines. In 1930, Christie married archaeologist Max Mallowan (Sir Max from 1968) after joining him in an archaeological dig. Their marriage was especially happy in the early years and remained so until Christie’s death in 1976.

I have never read the book, nor watched the movie or series, so I am left to wonder why the alternative title of this book was ‘The Boomerang Clue’ – I may just have to get my hands on a copy to find out!!
I hope you’ll enjoy it, if you will read it.
I know I’ve read this but so long ago I have no idea who did what to whom! Isn’t this the one they made recently into a movie with Hugh Laurie? At least it has been filmed, just not sure it that’s the one.

Yes, there is a movie from last year. 🙂
My mood or circumstances at the time can definitely affect what I think of a book. It’s not at my library, but I had the option to ask them to let me know if they get it. I think it sounds good.
