The Little Book of LYKKE by Meik Wiking

I read The Little Book of LYKKE by Meik Wiking a few years ago. As I had it in my bookcase and I was looking for a relaxing read before bedtime, I picked this book up to read it again. First time I gave the book 5 stars, this time I gave it 4 stars. Either way, the book has some very interesting points and I think it is worth reading. It also has lots of beautiful pictures, making it a delight to go through.

In 2017, when I first read the book, I also read his other book, The Little Book of Hygge. I think that by now everybody knows what hygge is. Lykke can be translated with happiness. Each chapter is dedicated to what makes humans happy: togetherness, money, health, freedom, trust, and kindness. Wiking presents stats on different things, which are very interesting. He talks about the happiness gap between parents and child-free couples, about how much money someone needs so they are happy and what happens if they earn more.

Overall it is a fast read, unless you plan to read it like I did, a few pages before bedtime. It has a lot of details which are interesting and I’ve enjoyed it while reading it for the second time, so I would suggest buying it if your local library is closed, as it might be right now.
