Scandal by Amanda Quick

Scandal by Amanda Quick is another book I read as a teenager. It seems I still love her style and I will read a few more books by her these days.

Scandal is the story of Emily Faringdon and Simon Augustus Traherne, the mysterious Earl of Blade. She had a scandal when she was nineteen and now she is not likely she could get married, but he has a secret too.

The story has a few twists and turns. I like how she is portrayed, as in the beginning she appears blinded by romantic notions, but she is, in fact, very aware of the reality surrounding her, just chooses to ignore it. He, on the other hand, is so caught up in his quest for revenge that he can’t think of the future. It is a lovely story and I would recommend it. It is a great holiday book, regardless if you can go anywhere or you spend your free time at home.

  • After all the heavy-duty history textbooks, you’re enjoying romance books which you loved as a teen. I enjoy Regency romance as well, though my guilty pleasure is the so called clean romance, set on the American frontier (and Amish romance too). I am not sure if I’ve read any of Amanda Quick books, but they sound entertaining and charming.

  • I’m glad you’re enjoying these re-reads from your youth. I’m currently reading the Regency Romance I mentioned before and must admit I’m not overly impressed. I will finish it, though.
