The Architecture Lover’s Guide to London by Sian Lye
The Architecture Lover’s Guide to London by Sian Lye* is a must for anyone visiting London. It’s such a wonderful book, filled with interesting details, some are on how buildings were made, others on why the buildings were built in the first place. It starts with Roman times when Londinium appeared and goes through its history to today, as the book ends with the skyscrapers we all know.

If you are visiting London or just want to know more about the architecture even if you’ve lived in London, this book is worth getting. I took a picture of it in front of Selfridges, one of the landmarks mentioned in the book. I’ve been to London many times and I lived there for 6 months, so I visited many of the buildings presented, especially those built up to the Victorian period. It was very interesting to read about all of them like this. This is also a great reference book. If you want to walk around London, then having a guide to the most iconic buildings and details about them is really useful.
In it you can read a funny story about the Queen’s House in Greenwich, about the development on Downing Street and what Prime Ministers thought of those buildings, you can see the relics of Roman walls, and much more. There is also a map with the highlights marked on it, handy to have if you plan to do a few hours of sightseeing in London.

I love architecture, so I think this would be a wonderful book and a great resource. It sounds like it packs a lot of information into a fairly short book.
