The Cat Encyclopedia by D.K. Publishing
The Cat Encyclopedia by D.K. Publishing – The Definitive Visual Guide – is a 5 stars book without any doubt. I borrowed this book just before adopting our cat. I postponed returning the book as I looked over half of it, with the breeds and the introduction, which includes the history of how cats were domesticated. There is also a part which deals with the imagery of cats, from Egypt to modern day posters.

I needed to read the parts on the biology of cats and this is why I kept the book until I returned home, with Volya. The book is not long, at 300 pages, as there are a lot of breeds and that part can be skim read. This book was beyond my expectations, with interesting details, well thought, details on aspects such as nervous system and the immune system. The information is clearly explained and not judgemental/sarcastic as other books (one was a DNF).
It is a cat encyclopaedia and it covers a lot of topics in a short book, which is fantastic. This is why I enjoyed this book so much. Thus I highly recommend it for new cat owners or people who like cats in general.

All three of my children have cats, but I think my younger daughter in particular would enjoy this book. Her cat will be 15 next week! Volya is very photogenic.

Thank you. I bribed her with treats for the photo.
This is a book worth remembering as a Christmas gift for your children. Happy birthday to her cat and your grandcat. 🙂
