Second Chances at the Board Game Café by Jennifer Page
Second Chances at the Board Game Café by Jennifer Page is the third book in the Little Board Game Café series. I loved this one, a definite 5 stars. What I don’t like about this series is that the 2 villages mentioned are not real, I did check on maps. No Hebbleswick and no Essendale.

This is the story of Taylor, who loves Esme Young from The Great British Sewing Bee, and dreamed of being a fashion designer. As a single mum she is fixing zips, hemming skirts, and making curtains. With a very limited budget, she finds it difficult to get a proper place to stay and work, and her son Max is struggling at school, as he is being bullied.
Harry is a regular customer of the (not so) Little Board Game Café, recovering after a breakup. He loves trains and board games that are train related.
The love story evolves nicely, not too fast and not too complicated. The rest of the characters are ones that I liked from the previous books, Kate, Emily and Ludek, Mr. B, Jo and Razz. I like that the previous stories did not take too much space.

About the author: Jennifer Page lives near Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire with her husband Hermi and his very – no, make that extremely – large collection of board games. Her debut novel, The Little Board Game Cafe will be published on 13th April 2022. Jennifer writes light-hearted, cosy romantic fiction which was initially inspired by her own dating adventures. Before she met Hermi, she was single for 13 years and had pretty much given up on meeting The One.
When she isn’t writing, Jennifer can usually be found playing board games; since she met Hermi, she’s become even more obsessed with them than he is! She also loves cooking (though she’d never claim to be any good at it!), caravan holidays and walking in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

I really enjoyed the “up cycling” theme in this one. I also liked the train parts. Ticket to Ride is a game I’ve enjoyed playing a number of times.

Aww, Ticket to Ride is a real game? I had no idea. I should have a look.
All of the games mentioned in the series are real. That’s part of what made it so appealing to me! There’s also a “junior” version of Ticket to Ride as well as “expansion packs” for the regular game.
