Remember love by Mary Balogh
Remember love by Mary Balogh is the first book in the Ravenswood series. This is the story of Devlin Ware, the Earl of Stratton, and his neighbour, Gwyneth Rhys. Aged 22, Devlin discovered and revealed a secret which affected the whole family. He was exiled and returned only after his father’s death.

I liked the story very much. Devlin changed from an idealistic young man to a battle hardened man. He fought against Napoleon for years and this made him evolve and mature. Gwyneth did the same, during the time he was away. The story seems realistic and it was beautifully written. Balogh paced the action nicely, with big surprises being solved before another twist and turn happening. I don’t want to go into details to avoid spoilers. I think the book is a lovely regency romance which is definitely worth reading for those enjoying the genre.
The book marks the start of a lovely series. Two more books are already published and will be reviewed shortly. The 4th one in the series will be published next month or so.

Regency books can be hit or miss with me, but this one sounds good. I hesitate to start a series, though. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

I think that regency is a very specific genre of books, a bit like marmite. People are either reading all the books or none/very occasionally. The first long book in English I read was by Mary Balogh, borrowed from a friend who went to UK on a trip about 20 years ago.
