From russia With Blood by Heidi Blake

From russia With Blood by Heidi Blake – The kremlin’s Ruthless Assassination Program and vladimir putin’s Secret War on the West – is a book I was recommended. It is a must read book for anyone living in UK and US, at least. The book reads like a novel, which is one of the reasons I gave it 4 stars. The topic is too serious for novel-type descriptions, besides the very annoying mistaken spelling of Kyiv.

This book is about the people who russia murdered mainly in UK, but also in US. There are links in intelligence, so this is why I think Brits and Americans should be aware of what was the situation in 2019, which is now rapidly changing. It might seem unimportant that people such as Boris Berezovsky, Alexander Litvinenko, and Sergei Skripal were killed or injured, but it affects all of us. Firstly, some russian oligarchs are making London their home influencing politicians with their power and money. Secondly, money is laundered through places like London, meaning there is also corruption. Thirdly, these people make no real impact on UK’s finances, they are spending money on expensive things not investing in businesses. Lastly, innocent bystanders are getting killed or injured because of these killings, like it was the case of Dawn Sturgess and Nick Bailey.

Blake makes a very good case that there are more attacks and deaths on British soil than the politicians are saying. Just thinking of a case such as Litvinenko, who was so well known and it was so obvious that he was murdered by the russians, and still, basically nothing happened. Only 4 moscow agents were expelled and that was it. Tony Blair wanted to make money with russia, Bush was enchanted by putin’s eyes, followed by Hilary Clinton’s “reset button” in 2009.

The situation is very real and very important to dismiss. She is presenting the cases clearly and with evidence to back everything up. She also represents both versions and is not trying to impose her views. It is a short book, about 300 pages without the notes. It is easy to read, as I mentioned, it feels a bit like a novel in style.
