A History Of Lancaster Golf Club by J.H. Shennan
A History Of Lancaster Golf Club by J.H. Shennan is a short book, just over 100 pages. This was a complimentary book I received on a weekend stay at the Ashton Hall. This book is mainly about the Lancaster Golf Club, but considering that it moved to Ashton Hall in 1930, there are a lot of details and facts about Ashton Hall as well. There are some family links there to Washington, the US president.

Considering the nature of the book, I will not write a longer review. It’s unlikely anyone will get it unless they are either staying at the hotel or interested in golf. If so, the book is interesting and worth reading, a mix of golf and history, with a significant number of photos to make it even more fascinating. I gave it 5 stars because it deals with the subject really well.

I have several golfers in my family (one who’s actually quite good at it), but it’s not a sport I’ve ever had any desire to play or even watch.

I played once, just hitting the ball in one of those special learning spots, not on the field. It’s harder than in looks, but not for me either.
