Elizabeth: Celebration in Photographs by Jennie Bond

Elizabeth: Celebration in Photographs by Jennie Bond* is such a gorgeous book. There are lots and lots of pictures, about 200 of them, with short descriptions, which is wonderful. Each chapter, in which the reign is divided by decades, starts with a description of a few pages. I liked those descriptions a lot, they are offering an insight into the life of Elizabeth.

It is such a lovely book. I learned a few things and I’ve enjoyed all the photographs. This is a great book for any monarchy enthusiast and it also makes for a lovely gift too.

As a Royal correspondent, Bond is in an unique position to be able to chat with the Queen at different times and sometimes mentions this in the book. She knows the Queen and it is obvious Bond’s respect and love for her. I think the pictures chosen for the book were great too. It was nice to see photos in which the Queen is happy and relaxed, others in which she is a proud mother and wife, and others in which she is upset or grieving, showing all the emotions each of us go through. Of course, the Royal family is presented, from Prince Andrew’s return from the Falkland War to many pictures with Prince Philip. I highly recommend this book. It is really great.
